2 Special Double Wedding Ring Quilts

Visit at the Beach and my Grandmother's Double Wedding Ring Quilts

I am as happy as a clam spending time with family at the Emerald Coast in Florida.  I was born here and spent many of my younger years here.  Definitely a beach baby, having spent most of my childhood at the beach.  My visits usually consist of beach time in the morning and time with my grandmother in the evening.  She taught me to quilt and made the two Double Wedding Ring Quilts I am going to share with you.

I am so happy when I come back to the beach, that I cannot even describe it to you.  I wish I could bottle the experience and take it with me where ever I go.  The sound of the waves, the smell of the saltwater and sunscreen, the cool sea breeze, the warmth of the sun, the pelicans and seagulls, the sight of the beautiful blue-green water as clear as glass, white sand and sand dunes … yes, yes, I know I am going on and on, but it’s all so wonderful.  On top of all of that, whenever I spend time at the beach, it brings back so many childhood memories.

Both of these quilts are made entirely by hand.  She hand pieced them, hand quilted them, and added the border, all by hand.  Her stitches are so small.
Green Double Wedding Ring Quilt
This green Double Wedding Ring Quilt she made for me.  She decided to make all the children and grandchildren a quilt so we wouldn’t fight over her quilts.  Green is my favorite color so she saved all her green scraps to make this quilt.

Hand Quilted Double Wedding Ring Quilt

This is such a special beautiful quilt because I know how much time and love she put into making it.  It is a large quilt that will fit a king size bed.  I love this quilt and cherish all the work she has put into it.

Baby Double Wedding Ring Quilt

This smaller Double Wedding Ring quilt she made for my daughter.  It is baby sized made with 30’s reproduction fabrics.  The fabrics make it such a sweet little quilt for a baby.  My grandmother loved using 30’s reproduction fabrics because it reminded her of her childhood.

30's Reproduction Double Wedding Ring Quilt
Today has been a wonderful day.  I spent the early part of the day at the beach with my family and the evening visiting with my grandmother.  We talked about quilts and family history while we worked on our quilts.  These times with her are so special.  I feel very blessed.
