Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton Color Card
I finally broke down and ordered a Robert Kaufman Kona cotton color card. It really has made my life easier.
Whenever I needed to purchase a certain color, I would find myself looking at different online shops just trying to determine the true color of the fabric I was considering buying.
One site’s picture of the particular fabric would be very different from another site’s. If you are in a time crunch, this is not the best way to order fabric. What happens if you choose the wrong color? You have to start the frustrating process all over again. After several times of searching and guessing, I decided it was time to order a Kona card.
I think I actually squealed when I opened the card out all the way. There are so many beautiful colors. A quilt of solid fabrics is definitely on my to do list.
Look at those reds! Gorgeous!
I love all the shades of deep blues and aquas. Those colors together would make an amazing quilt!
Many online shops offer the Kona Card. If you shop around, you can often catch it on sale. Just be sure that the version you are considering purchasing is the most recent version that is updated with the newest colors.
This will really make it easier to choose coordinating solids to add to my quilts. No more guessing when trying to order online. Whew! Thank goodness for that!
Thanks for visiting,
Candace

I love my Kona colour card – it has saved my bacon on many occassions as I am rubbish at judging colours on screen 🙂

Good idea. I ordered the color cards for thread from Superior about a year ago and I love having them. Takes the guesswork out of the equation. 😀

Just ordered one last night! So glad to hear that it has been a good purchase for you. I have been reluctant to purchase one for a while, but I finally caved!

Me too. I kept putting it off, but after a few sticky situations it was time to place an order!

I feel a little silly, but I never really understood what a color card was used for. But this does make sense. 🙂

Right! I felt the same way when I would read other bloggers mention it. I thought "Is that really necessary?", but after struggling to find fabric to match my projects I totally understand now. The fabric never looks the same online as it does in person. It really does make choosing solids much easier.

I've had my card for a week now and have been busy hopping around the internet finding the best prices – about to order from 3 different stores to get the lowest prices for the colours I want. I used to buy from a shop to be sure about the colours so the colour card will pay for itself on my first purchase savings alone – well worth it 🙂

I remember when the only way to get a Kona card was to be a shop selling Kona Fabrics. That was in the early 90s. The cards were much, much smaller then! Not that many stores carried Kona either. I love how so many more colors are so widely available and how anyone can purchase a card!
