Half Square Triangles,  Rainbow Quilt,  Rainbow Steps and Stairs

Rainbow Steps and Stairs

I am so excited to say that my Half Moon Modern quilt is complete and I named it “Rainbow Steps and Stairs”.  I love the Half Moon Modern collection.  The colors are so bright and cheerful and the patterns are simple and bold.

These fabrics were so much fun to work with.  They make this quilt happy and cheerful.  In order to get the bold rainbow pattern, I chose fabrics from the collection that have more color than the white background.  I love the big polka dots scattered throughout the quilt.

The solid fabric in this quilt is Robert Kaufman’s Kona Cotton in Snow.  This is such a pretty, soft white that blends nicely with the Half Moon Modern collection.  The binding as well as a section of the back is Half Moon Modern’s Chevron in Lime.
The quilting patten turned out really well.  I quilted 3/8″ on each side of the vertical and horizontal seams and 1/2″ on either side of the diagonal seams.  The lines crossed each other neatly to form these pretty stars.

This quilt is 48″ by 55″ and is a good size for snuggling up with or as a decorative throw.  Oh, did I mention that I went a little picture crazy with this post.

The lime chevron border sets off the pattern and the colors nicely.  Who doesn’t love a good chevron print?

I am so happy that I have some of this fabric left over for future projects.  This green is so pretty and bright.

My family and I went to the park again to take quilt pictures and my 4 year old son helped.  He took this picture of the waterfall, so I had to add it in.  He is quite the little photographer.

I am also excited to share that my Etsy shop is now open.  You will find this quilt listed here – Rainbow Stairs and Steps and the listing for the pattern here –   Rainbow Stairs and Steps Pattern.  There are several other quilts and mug rugs  listed that I have made in the past such as the 30’s Rainbow Tumbler Quilt and Beach Bound Tumbler Quilt.

I have been hard at work on the computer preparing the pattern and my shop.  My poor sewing machine is probably feeling very neglected.  I need to get back to the drawing board and start planning the next project.  More sewing, less computer!!
Happy Sewing!
Candace
