My sister is getting married and I have been a busy little bee sewing away on the flower girl dress and the ring bearer vest.
My sewing space is a complete disaster. Fabric scraps and thread trimmings everywhere.
This week has been such a whirlwind of running errands, cleaning house, haircuts, coordinating with relatives, and making sure we have everything ready for the wedding. My husband, my kiddos and I are all in the wedding. I have to make sure I haven’t forgotten anything.
I just love little girl’s dresses that have the large bow in the back. I love this little pink flower girl dress. It is so soft and pretty and poofy with all five layers in the skirt.
I have never made a dress like this before and I learned a lot through from the whole process.
This little dress took quite a bit of sewing. The pattern did not come in the size I needed so I had to adjust the pattern to a smaller size to fit her. That lengthened the process quite a bit.
Here is the ring bearer vest. This was so much faster to make than the dress. I made the flower girl dress first and then the vest.
I flew through the vest making process after accomplishing the dress. My only hang up was the buttonholes.
Apparently the buttonhole sensor on my sewing machine is very sensitive and if it is triggered early the machine will think it is time to turn around and come back to complete the buttonhole. Problem is it kept turning around early.
My seam ripper was put to good use through this part of the process and I contemplated getting out the wine.
Here are the patterns that I used for the flower girl dress and ring bearer vest. I will update the pattern number for the vest once I find the number. I didn’t realize that it was torn.
Both patterns were really easy to use and I only had to make a few adjustments to give them the right fit.
Happy Sewing,
Candace

Great job! Your flower girl will look like a little princess! And that vest looks like it came from a high end boutique (as does the dress!). Congrats to your sister–not only for getting married–but for having the best dressed wee attendants as well.
I've so been looking forward to seeing these and they are just perfect, you've done an amazing job and, as always, your work is incredible. I hope you all have a wonderful day after all it's a very special date for very special people (it's my birthday too 😉 ). Hoping to see photos soon 🙂
It's so pretty and I love the vest! It's so hard to find nice looking and quality vests for boys. I love that you just made it. 🙂 I would love to have you stop by 'Or so she says…' today and share some of your great ideas with my readers! Simply Charming! I used to sew clothes for myself and then later for my daughter when she was small. Great memories.
