My quick little project using a mini charm pack is complete. I really need some new quilted potholders because all of my current ones look awful. Of course I am a little hesitant to use these, because I know it won’t be long before they look awful too. What can I say, I am a messy cook.
Quilted Potholders are a quick and easy project with the help of a mini charm pack. No cutting, trimming, measuring… the little squares are ready to go.
This mini charm pack of Boho by Urban Chiks for Moda contains 42 – 2.5″ squares, which are a great size for a small project. The colors are fun and cheerful and perfect for adding color to my kitchen.
I love the idea of these little squares packaged and ready to sew. I do enjoy cutting up my squares for a project, but sometimes it is nice to skip that step and go straight to putting them together.
I am using 32 of the 42 squares to make my quilted potholders and two layers of cotton batting. These are pinned and ready for quilting.
Quilting is so much easier if you iron the top and bottom layers on the wrong side with spray starch before putting the layers together. It makes the fabric more stiff and it goes through the sewing machine so nicely, note I only needed to use 2 pins per potholder to hold the layers together.
Talk about quick and easy quilting. Don’t you just love stress free sewing.
Sew them together, a little quilting, and add the binding.
I really need to make a few more of these quilted potholders. I seriously need to throw out the ones I have. I wasn’t kidding when I said they were awful. They are stained up from many home cooked meals and some even have a few burned spots where they got too close to the burner.
Two is a good start to overhauling my potholder collection.
Here’s to productive sewing!
Cheers ~

I was just thinking the same thing….my potholders look awful too. Even after they are washed. So I guess I had better get busy making some too. Yours are adorable! I love the aqua binding! Linda mysewwhatblog.blogspot.com
I was thinking…scraps! I just found some leftover coffee scraps so that will work. I think it is fun to do small projects now and again for some instant gratification! ; ). You pot holders are beautiful.

They're so cute. I don't blame you for not wanting to use them. Maybe you could make a couple to just hang for decoration.
