Don’t You Just Love Solids…
Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton: Magenta, Bright Pink, Red, Kumquat, Kiwi, Peacock, Pacific I am working on a new project with Kona cotton solids. The inspiration for it is the umbrella in my blog button. I love these bright colors and I fell in love with them even more when I opened the package in the mail and got them in my hands. RK Kona cottons have such a great texture and the colors are so rich. When I ordered these, my Kona cotton card came in mighty handy. Even with the card it took me awhile to make up my mind on which particular colors I wanted to use. I…

Reversible Halloween Table Runner
The Halloween table runner is finished. I really enjoyed playing with the fabrics from the Guising fabric collection by Lizzy House. I just love her fabrics, especially the Pearl Bracelets! I also threw in a few other fabrics that I felt blended with the collection nicely. The solid fabric is Robert Kaufman Kona cotton in snow. This is another half square triangle project that is arranged to form a chevron pattern. For some reason I keep getting drawn in to half square triangle projects. I love closely quilted lines and thought they would work well with this chevron pattern. This is quilted with sort of a random pattern, but…

I Spy Quilt Revisited
I have been doing a little blog housekeeping. I came upon my previous post “The I Spy Quilt Made it to the Beach” and was surprised by how the pictures in the post did not do a very good job of showing this quilt and all of its wonderful details. I am very proud of it and decided to take a few new pictures to do this quilt justice. Before I could start taking pictures, I had to get permission to borrow it from my 4 year old. I was very surprised by how enthusiastic my son was about this quilt. I have made things for him before and he…

Halloween Table Runner in Progress
Guising by Lizzy House for Andover Fabrics The Halloween table runner is underway. My goal was to make the runner with more of a modern look. I like traditional, but the Guising collection is very modern so… modern design to match modern fabric. I set out the squares and played with the arrangement until every piece was in the right place. I have just never been one to go with random placement. The thought of it freaks me out a little. I have to have control of where every piece is, but I want it to look randomly placed. Go figure! I love the chevron pattern and thought it would…

Rainbow Steps and Stairs
I am so excited to say that my Half Moon Modern quilt is complete and I named it “Rainbow Steps and Stairs”. I love the Half Moon Modern collection. The colors are so bright and cheerful and the patterns are simple and bold. These fabrics were so much fun to work with. They make this quilt happy and cheerful. In order to get the bold rainbow pattern, I chose fabrics from the collection that have more color than the white background. I love the big polka dots scattered throughout the quilt. The solid fabric in this quilt is Robert Kaufman’s Kona Cotton in Snow. This is such a pretty,…

Rainbow Quilt Ready for Stitching
My rainbow quilt sandwich is pinned tightly together and ready for stitching. I use Faultless Heavy Starch and lots of steam to prep the quilt top and back. It helps to keep the fabric stiff and aids in preventing tucks and pinches during quilting. I have been using my new Kwik Klip and let me tell you, it sure has saved my fingers and finger nails. When pinning the quilt sandwich I would put the pins in a large section and then go back with the Kwik Klip and close them all. Then I start on another section. It was very easy to use and it really sped up…

Half Moon Modern Underway
The Half Moon Modern Quilt is underway. I just cannot begin to explain how excited I am about this quilt! I came up with the design for it months ago and have been patiently waiting for the right time to make it. It will be a quilt of half-square triangles using the quick-pieced method. I started stitching some of the squares and trimmed them up to 4.5″ squares. I plan on using all of the colors from the collection, but I love how the green, orange, grey, and soft white look together. The white I am using is Robert Kaufman’s Kona Cotton in Snow and it matches the white in…

Half Moon Modern Quilt Project …. Sneak Peek
I bought these a while ago just for this project. I got lucky and found these charm packs during a really great sale (don’t you just love those). I came up with a quilt pattern using half square triangles. The layout of the triangles will be a great way to showcase the different colors of the Half Moon Modern collection by Moda. I am sure many of you have seen this collection as it has been on the market for a while. I am in love with it! I love the bright colors and the simple yet interesting prints. If I could, I would buy a quarter of a yard…
