Economy Quilt Blocks Here is an update on the progress of my Economy Quilt Blocks. It looks like I have quite a collection going. The plan is to make a large throw size requiring approximately 200 blocks and each block is a 5″ square. Yes, 200 sounds like a lot, but it’s a fun project when it is broken up into batches. Working on this project in batches makes the process less overwhelming. They are simple to put together, but can be time consuming depending on how many you want to make. I have been busy sewing economy blocks… and more economy blocks… I shared with you a few posts ago how I got sucked in to the Economy Block Along that has been going around on blogs, Instagram, and flickr. Festive Fireworks Quilt Blocks
3 Fireworks Quilt Block In honor of the 4th of July, I came up with a Fireworks Quilt Block. I used paper piecing to make each of the stars. This was my first attempt at paper piecing and I have to say, I loved it! It really helps everything line up neatly. It is a bit of a mind puzzle though, definitely a different way to think about sewing the pieces together. The background is Robert Kaufman Kona cotton in charcoal.
