Happy Scrappy Baby Quilt Made with Half Square Triangles is Complete!
Scrappy Baby Quilt All done and the finished scrappy baby quilt is just what I had envisioned for a sweet little baby we know. Heads up… this post contains a lot of pictures! I can say that I truly enjoyed each and every step of this quilt. Sometimes certain steps in the quilt making process can become cumbersome and tedious, but not with this scrappy baby quilt. I love working with half square triangles (HST) and lots of different, colorful fabrics. Her room colors are turquoise, pink, yellow, and orange. I picked out the fabrics I enjoy the most, which are geometric prints, lots of flowers and roses, and cute little birds. I…

Half Square Triangles and a Happy Scrappy Baby Quilt
Half Square Triangles Some friends of ours have a sweet baby on the way and I had to make them a baby quilt. I decided to make a scrappy half square triangle quilt. The colors of her room are yellow, turquoise, orange, and pink. I chose lots of geometric patterns, birds, flowers, and fun little objects such as bikes, scooters, pinwheels, etc. I basically picked all my favorites! I had so much fun working with these fabrics. I also threw in some solid colors instead of solid white. I love how the bright solids mix in with the others. It helps bring out the colors in the low volume…

The border is Remix Zig Zags by Ann Kelle for Robert Kaufman and the binding is Dumb Dot in Peppermint by Michael Miller. You can find a tutorial to make easy mitered corners in your quilt…

Bright and Cheerful I Spy Quilt with Half Square Triangles
Finishing the Scrappy I Spy Quilt The I Spy Quilt came together after I joined a fabric swap that included cute and colorful, small prints. With the squares from the swap, I created half square triangle blocks (hst). The fun little prints are perfect for an I Spy Quilt. You can find the first post about the initial assembly of the quilt top here. This bright and colorful, stripy fabric I found at Ikea and chose for the back of the scrap quilt. I couldn’t pass it up and I am glad I didn’t. The stripe runs down the center of the backing and the sides are lined with extra…

Creative I Spy Quilt Using Half Square Triangles
Stacks of Half Square Triangle Quilt Squares I participated in a fabric swap where each participant cuts up a yard or two into 5″ squares and mails them to the planner. The planner is so kind to take on the task of sorting all the squares that are sent in and sending each participant a bundle with one of each square. It is pretty cool. So when it is all said and done you have all these cool fabrics to make a scrappy quilt and in my case, I chose to make an I Spy Quilt using half square triangle blocks. The guidelines for this swap requested fabric with little…
