Sweet and Scrappy Tumbler Quilt “For the Birds”
Colorful and Sweet AccuQuilt Tumbler Quilt This sweet tumbler quilt is finished and I am just tickled pink with it. I love everything about it… the colors, the fun and sweet fabrics (including the birds), the old fashioned tumbler block, and all that scrappiness! These quilt tumblers are made with the AccuQuilt Go! Fabric Cutter. The template is the AccuQuilt Tumbler 3 1/2 Die and it makes an easy tumbler quilt block. I have made tumbler quilts with hand cut tumblers before. This Rainbow 30’s Reproduction Quilt is a good example. However, sometimes it’s nice to take a break from the rotary cutter. The AccuQuilt Go! Fabric Cutter is a fun way to cut quilt…

For the Birds Tumbler Quilt Top
The tumbler quilt top is complete. Tumblers are so fun! Especially randomly placed tumblers. Ok, this is only partially randomly placed. I started piecing the rows together randomly in short sections, but then I arranged and rearranged and rearranged those sections… many, many times to get it the way I wanted. Yes, it sounds like a little much, but I wanted to make sure that certain fabrics and colors were spread out throughout the quilt. I also did not want the same prints to be pieced directly together. I have also prepped the backing and it is ready to go. I love this floral and purchased it a few months…

Bright and Cheerful 30’s Reproduction Tumbler Quilt
My happy little Rainbow 30’s Reproduction Tumbler Quilt is complete! Whew…. that was a mouth full! 30’s Reproduction Tumbler Quilt Finishing Details I have to say, I went back and forth trying to decide which fabric to use for the binding. Choosing the binding is my nemesis. So much work goes into making the quilt and the binding frames it. I always think, I don’t want to get it wrong, but really there is no wrong. It’s your quilt, chose whatever fabric makes you happy. For this quilt I chose solid soft yellow, which would keep it simple and accent the quilt nicely. Like my last tumbler quilt, I stitched…

Sweet Rainbow Tumbler Quilt with 30’s Reproduction Fabrics
Starting a New Rainbow Tumbler Quilt A new day and another tumbler quilt. I promise my next project will not have anything to do with a tumbler… maybe. Going through my 30’s reproduction stash, I thought I should use some of it up (to make room for new fabric of course, yes it is addicting). These tumbler blocks are slightly different from the traditional shape as they are a little longer and narrower and fit well with the size of my scraps. In the picture above, all the individual rows are hanging in my window. I just love the light shining through the fabric. With this Rainbow Tumbler Quilt I…

Cheerful Nautical Tumbler Quilt
Finished AccuQuilt Nautical Tumbler Quilt Its finished! I love how the nautical tumbler quilt turned out…. ok I might post too many pictures, but really you can’t have too many quilt pictures. The tumbler quilt is complete with a simple white binding made of Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton. The solid white helps show off the colors and keeps it simple. Bindings with prints are fun to use and add character to quilt projects, but my grandmother always used white or off white. When I use a solid white, it always reminds me of her quilts. Quilt Top The quilt top was pretty easy to cut and assemble by rows. For…

Colorful Nautical AccuQuilt Tumbler Quilt
Starting a New AccuQuilt Tumbler Quilt Tumbler quilts are so fun. It is a traditional patchwork quilt pattern that is simple to make, but has so much character. Here in Texas, we are experiencing temperatures in the 80’s and I am already getting the itch to go to the beach. Might as well put some of that energy into my next project, a beach tumbler quilt. It will be big enough for a toddler to drag around and snuggle with. The colors and prints bring to mind ocean water, the sand, and the seafood! It’s all calling my name. These tumbler quilt blocks are made with the AccuQuilt Go!…
